Comments: Due to COVID-19, the Made in Millersville 2020 conference switched from in-person to online. The date for the event also changed from April 14, 2020, to April 27, 2020. Challenges began to rise due to the nature of the pandemic and as the designer, I had to become more flexible.

Final Program

Moving the MIM event online had its challenges, including how to capture all the students who wanted to participate still. The 2020 program is smaller than the 2019 program due to the change from an in-person event to an online event. The overall format had to change compared to the previous year’s program format.

Research & User Testing

One of the significant challenges of this internship was the schedule. Initially, the schedule's job appeared to be navigation and preservation. Many past participants did not understand how to read the booklet because it was confusing. With the UsabilityHub and in-person testing, I conducted several tests on students and faculty. I asked users several questions to complete tasks or state what they liked/disliked about the schedule. From the results, we decided to create two separate booklets. The answers helped us determine the schedule's purpose; navigate users around the conference in person. And the program is used to preserve information and can be found online. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we had to eliminate the schedule because there was no longer a purpose for an in-person navigational tool.
