Everyday Sexism motion design

Create a motion piece that helps push the message behind the audio clip

Type of Project: Motion Design | Programs: Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects

Comments: The idea and style behind this piece were to make it very cliché and feminine. The Everyday Sexism Project is a project conducted by Laura Bates, and it features posts by people who experience sexism daily, proving that it is an actual thing. The Everyday Sexism motion piece features an audio clip of Laura Bates talking about sexism. The whole feminine approach was to make it more digestible to those who might not believe in sexism even though it is constantly around us.

styles & characters

The style of “Everyday Sexism” intends to be more feminine. The decision to make this piece more feminine was because it’s supposed to be cliché. Feminine imagery like flowers and the use of soft colors helped to push this idea. The texture gives the images a paper-cut look.

Final Digital Storyboard

The final storyboard showcases the movements of each set of images in the motion piece. The orange arrows and x’s help to show the transitions in this storyboard. In this piece, recall usage helps with consistency.
